JOB DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: All research specialties in music theory will be considered; however, we seek to expand the Department's range by attracting someone with a research interest that complements those of present faculty. Possibilities include interdisciplinary areas such as feminist studies, hermeneutics, narratology, perception and cognition, philosophy, post-modern literary-critical theory, semiotics, or a non-canonic repertoire. The successful candidate must be able to contribute to the Department's diverse instructional and advising needs at the undergraduate and graduate levels, which include musicianship skills, theory and analysis, graduate courses, and thesis advising, and to ongoing curriculum development. Depending on the abilities and interests of the successful candidate, duties might include supervision and development of the undergraduate musicianship skills program (possibly including instituting the use of CAI as an adjunct to classroom instruction), or forging ties with an interdisciplinary unit outside the Faculty of Music (such as Western's Centres for Theory and Criticism, Women's Studies and Feminist Research, or Western Literatures and Civilization).
