Position: Assistant Professor

General Information:

The Agnes Scott College Department of Music invites applications for a tenure-track position in music theory at the rank of assistant professor to begin Fall 2011.


Doctorate in music theory or music composition is required and should be completed by July 2011. We seek a candidate with evidence of a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and scholarly/creative activity, as well as knowledge of computer applications in music. Applicants with strengths in CAI, composition, or other related areas are encouraged to apply. A demonstrable knowledge of and interest in music from under-represented groups (women and minorities) and from outside the Western canon is desired.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate music theory courses, oversee music theory lab, teach a first year seminar or senior seminar as needed and participate in the musical and academic life of the department and the college.
