The Department of Music, among the most enrolled on campus, has four full-time faculty and an extended roster of adjunct teaching artists. Among our major ensembles are a symphony orchestra, two bands, three choruses, and an international percussion ensemble with component African, Indian and Japanese groups. The campus is located midway between Chicago and Detroit in Kalamazoo, Michigan, a metropolitan community of 225,000 that supports four college and university campuses as well as numerous civic, arts, and cultural associations (such as the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, Fontana Chamber Arts, and the Gilmore Keyboard Festival). Thirty-five miles from Lake Michigan, the area also offers many opportunities for outdoor activities.
