Position: Assistant Professor

General Information:

The Benjamin T. Rome School of Music at The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Music Theory, with additional responsibilities in teaching woodwinds or brass instruments or with Wind Ensemble, at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2015. We seek a scholar with significant publication record or potential for future publications in music theory who also has extensive experience in performance and teaching of wind instrument(s).

Qualifications:

Applicants must have a completed doctorate (e.g., Ph.D. Music Theory or DMA Wind Conducting or Wind performance) by August 2015. Candidates with at least two years of full-time teaching experience in both music theory and winds or conducting at the university level are strongly preferred.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Position duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate music theory courses; advising as needed, and recruitment and teaching of wind instruments or conducting wind ensemble; committees and other service commensurate with rank. Applicants with demonstrated experience and/or training in woodwind or brass performance are especially desirable.
