Position: Part-time Faculty, Musical Theory/Piano


Required Qualifications:
> Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience (master’s degree strongly preferred).
> Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
> Ability and willingness to work collaboratively within a diverse faculty and student body
> Piano proficiency.
> Classroom teaching experience in music theory, piano skills, and sight singing, preferably in a higher education setting.

Preferred Qualifications:
> Active engagement with a broad spectrum of musical styles: musical theater, classical, jazz, and popular music.
> Active professional experience as a composer/arranger and/or performer.
> Demonstrated commitment to excellent teaching.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Boston Conservatory at Berklee invites applications for a part-time faculty position in the Theater Division. Teaching duties will include undergraduate and graduate courses in music theory, sight singing, and piano skills. This is a 9-month part-time faculty position, with renewable contract. We are seeking a diverse pool of applicants and invite those with an experience of other traditions to apply.

The faculty member will be expected to prepare lessons, teach, and evaluate student performance in undergraduate and graduate courses. Curriculum will be centered in piano skills and music theory, both written and aural, including sight singing. The position calls for participation in the life and culture of the Theater Division. Participation in Music Theory program review and curriculum design will be required, as needed.
