Position: Assistant Professor

General Information:

Doctorate in music theory required; ABDs in music theory may be considered. Comprehensive knowledge of music theory in the Western art music tradition expected. Evidence of successful teaching and demonstrated potential to maintain a scholarly research agenda including presentations at professional conferences and publication in appropriate journals required. Background in music technology and its application to the teaching of music theory and skills highly desirable.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Teach undergraduate courses in music theory and skills (ear training, sight-singing, and keyboard) and graduate courses in music theory. Serve on graduate and departmental committees. Additional responsibilities based on candidate’s strengths. Duties to commence on 15 August 2007.

The Department of Music grants undergraduate and graduate degrees in music education, music business (undergraduate only), music theory, music history and literature, composition, and performance.
