Position: Instructor of Music Theory

General Information:

The University of North Florida School of Music (College of Arts & Sciences) invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track position of Instructor of Music Theory.

Qualifications:

At a minimum, applicants must have earned a master’s degree in music or music theory at the time of appointment. It is preferred that candidates have a doctorate in music theory or composition, college teaching experience, significant experience teaching music theory, and experience creating or developing music theory curriculum.

Background Check: This position requires a background check. In conjunction with the University’s policy, this position may also require a credit check.

Responsible Employee: The holder of this position is designated as a “Responsible Employee” pursuant to their role under Title IX. Therefore, the incumbent must promptly report allegations of sexual misconduct, sexual violence, and child sexual abuse by or against any student, employee, contractor, or visitor to the University’s Title IX Administrator or any divisional Title IX Coordinator.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include teaching courses in the four-semester freshman/sophomore Music Theory and Aural Theory sequence, as well as upper-division and graduate-level music theory courses. The successful applicant will also collaborate with colleagues, participate in faculty governance, and be involved with the campus community.

Salary Range: Approved Hiring Salary Range: $46,000
