Position: Assistant Professor

Qualifications:

Applicants must have a completed doctorate in hand at time of application; at least two years of full-time teaching of theory and composition at the university level is strongly preferred.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

The Benjamin T. Rome School of Music at The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in theory and composition at the rank of Assistant Professor, starting in August 2013. We seek a publishing music theorist who is an active composer, with a consistent record of performances. Position duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate theory courses and private composition lessons; participating in organizing readings, division recitals and other composition events; and service commensurate with rank. We are particularly interested in applicants who engage with music in multi-disciplinary contexts: desirable additional specializations may include performance and/or coaching, new media, theatrical or other cross-disciplinary collaboration. Desirable scholarly interests may include American music, jazz, contemporary composition, opera, musical theater, or sacred music.
