Position: Instructor/Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS:

For Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor:
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

For Instructor:
Master's degree in area(s) of expertise, and/or active progress toward a Doctorate, or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

A doctoral degree (PhD, Doctoral of Musical Arts, Doctor of Music, or Doctor of Education) required for professorial titles. For Associate and Full Professor, the candidate must have a record of significant achievement in the field. Ph.D. preferred but individuals with master's degree (Master of Music, Master of Arts, or Master of Science) and doctoral work in progress may be considered for hire as Instructor. Persons appointed to the Instructor title are only eligible for five (5) annual appointments. Appointments to a professorial title subsequent to service as Instructor will be considered if the candidate has obtained the qualifications for professorial ranks as stated above. Instructors with ABD preferred.

For all ranks: Three years college teaching experience preferred. Teaching experience with K-12 preferred. Experience with instructional technology an asset.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

The department seeks a candidate to teach a range of courses in music including music survey, music theory, and music pedagogy; candidates may hold a degree in any area of music (composition, music performance, ethnomusicology, historical musicology, music theory, or music education). Participate in college, department and professional activities such as curriculum development (particularly in music education and pedagogy), grant writing, assessment, faculty development, and mentoring student projects. Productive scholarship expected. Evening/weekend schedule may be required.

Salary Range: 39,399--106,071
