Institution: Roanoke College

Position: One-year sabbatical replacement

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in musicology (and/or related fields) preferred; masters in music required.


Job Description/Responsibilities:

Candidates should demonstrate the ability to cover two courses in music theory (diatonic and chromatic harmony), one in history (survey of eighteenth through nineteenth centuries), one introductory course in music/anthropology (world music); and two additional courses from the college’s general education program depending on the applicant’s area of specialization. Course load is three courses per semester. The successful candidate will possess a solid research or performance record in a broad range of genres. Teaching experience beyond graduate assistantships is strongly desired, as is experience teaching in a liberal arts setting.
