Position: One-Year Assistant Professor or Instructor

General Information:

Full-time, one-year position to begin at the start of the 2014-2015 academic year at the rank of Assistant Professor or Instructor.

Qualifications:

Preference given to candidates with a Ph.D. in Music Theory or ABD; Master’s degree required; college teaching experience preferred.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Teach core courses and advanced topics courses in multiple levels of undergraduate music theory, and additional assignments commensurate with the candidate's expertise. Assume normal professorial duties, including scholarly activity and committee assignments. Contribute to the intellectual and cultural life of the University.

Salary Range: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The College of Visual and Performing Arts brings together the Schools of Art, Design, and Art History; Theatre and Dance; and Music. With over 90 full-time faculty and 1,200 majors, the CVPA comprises a vital and collaborative artistic community.

The School of Music is a highly engaged and active program with more than 400 undergraduate majors, 28 master's students, and 28 doctoral students. The unit has 46 full-time faculty, 30 professional staff and supportive adjunct positions, and produces more than 250 performances and presentations annually. The curriculum prepares students for careers in music performance, music education, composition, music theatre, and music industry. By incorporating general education studies, the undergraduate program enables students to relate music to historical, sociological, and economic developments.
