Position: Assistant Professor

General Information:

The University of Windsor School of Music invites applications for a tenure-track position in Music at the rank of Assistant Professor commencing July 1, 2006. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a completed doctoral degree in music by date of appointment. The candidate will have expertise in areas such as popular music, world music, music in media, etc. Strong research skills, creative activity profile, and a track record of, or potential for, successful grant writing are expected, as is interest in interdisciplinary, collaborative pursuits. Evidence of experience in cultural arts and community building is preferred.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

The teaching responsibilities will involve a variety of areas, including courses of interest to students within and outside of the School of Music, while supporting the school's core curriculum. The successful candidate will effectively connect with the community through student projects, research, and community organizations. The candidate should be a team player who is able to contribute effectively to our school with its focus on learning-centredness, diversity of musics, social justice, and engagement in community. Duties also include serving on departmental and university committees.
