Position: Dean, Schulich School of Music

General Information:

McGill University is seeking an outstanding individual with demonstrated success in academic leadership and administration to become the next Dean of the Schulich School of Music. The Dean will have a passion for music and the arts, and will be a visionary and dynamic leader.

Qualifications:

Reporting to the Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic), the new Dean will have an impressive record of musical and scholarly research achievements, combined with a strong record of teaching and exemplary administration. He/she will have demonstrated effectiveness as a leader; familiarity with both performance and research; a strong understanding of inter-disciplinary research and programming; and experience in obtaining resources (including fundraising) for music research and education. While McGill is an English-speaking institution, the capacity to develop further the University’s connections to Quebec society and to communicate in French would be a distinct asset.

The review of nominations and applications will begin in late November 2015. This appointment is for a five-year renewable term, and will take effect 1 July 2016 or as soon thereafter as possible.

The Schulich School of Music at McGill University embodies the highest international standards of excellence in professional training and research.
