Position: Assistant Teaching Professor of Music Theory

General Information:

Non-tenure track. Full-time, benefit-eligible.
DATE OF APPOINTMENT: August 2017

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Music Theory (ABD considered). Evidence of music theory teaching expertise at the undergraduate level. Keyboard proficiency. Preference given to applicants with specialization in music before 1800.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Teaching duties include courses in the four-semester musicianship sequence (integrated music theory and aural skills) and graduate courses that may include music theory pedagogy, analytical procedures, and a seminar in the research specialty of the successful candidate. The successful candidate will have a growing, documented record of innovative and successful teaching; be willing to participate actively in the intellectual life of a Conservatory within a university by serving on graduate and faculty committees; and enrich the cultural environment of the Kansas City metropolitan community.

Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
