Position: Full-Time Lecturer position in Performing Arts

General Information:

This is a full-time, renewable position with an appointment term of one to five years with an annual nine-month service period from September to June, although this position will begin on January 3, or March 26, 2018.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be an active artist and scholar with an interdisciplinary background, and be able to teach courses in performance methods and practices, as well as the social, theoretical, and/or historical contexts of their field.  Candidates should have an active and proven history of collaborating with community partners for public performances.  The successful candidate should be experienced working with diverse student populations and interested in engaging with Tacoma’s thriving Arts community in ways that further the institution’s urban serving mission.

Candidates must have, at a minimum, a master’s degree in an appropriate field. 


Job Description/Responsibilities:

The University of Washington Tacoma invites applications for a Full-Time Lecturer position in Performing Arts within the School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences.  We seek a broadly trained artist-scholar with a record of teaching excellence in Theater, Sound, Performance Studies, or related Performing Arts field in order to teach and develop courses serving the Visual and Performing Arts track in the Arts, Media, and Culture major, as well as courses for non-majors from the campus at large.  The ideal candidate will be an active artist and scholar with an interdisciplinary background, and be able to teach courses in performance methods and practices, as well as the social, theoretical, and/or historical contexts of their field.  Candidates should have an active and proven history of collaborating with community partners for public performances.  The successful candidate should be experienced working with diverse student populations and interested in engaging with Tacoma’s thriving Arts community in ways that further the institution’s urban serving mission.
Lecturers at UW Tacoma are expected to maintain active service records through participation in campus committees and/or in collaborative engagement with the community.
