Minimum Qualifications
• Ph.D., D.M.A. or appropriate terminal degree, earned or ABD
• Experience teaching music theory at the collegiate level

Job Description/Responsibilities:

he School of Music & Theater at Portland State University seeks applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Music Theory position to begin September 16, 2019. The successful candidate will teach music theory, sight singing, ear training, and other subjects within the successful candidate’s area of expertise at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Other duties will be assigned to fulfill the School’s needs. The appointment will also entail service to the School and University, sustaining a continuous and cumulative record of creative/scholarly activities, and community outreach.

Salary Range: The minimum annual salary rate for this position will be $60,597 and starting salary will be dependent upon qualifications and experience. Compensation includes an excellent benefits package including 95% premium paid healthcare; a generous retirement and vacation package; and reduced tuition rates for employee, spouse or dependent at any of the Oregon Public Universities.
