Position: Assistant Professor-Music Theory

General Information:

The Department of Music at Texas A&M University-Commerce seeks highly qualified applicants for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor of Music Theory to begin in August of 2020.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
> Education: A completed Doctorate in Theory or Composition.
> Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Demonstrated experience of successful teaching; Prior experience in teaching the various levels of an undergraduate and graduate music theory/ear training sequence; Demonstrated record of success, or evidence of the potential for success, in research or composition.
> Ability to: Multi-task and work well as part of a team.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
> Proficiency in aural and keyboard skills
> Evidence of the ability to take a leading role in the instruction and retention of quality students
> Successful record of publications (theory or composition) or performances (composition).

Job Description/Responsibilities:

> The ideal candidate will be a passionate educator and scholar committed to successful classroom teaching at all levels of undergraduate and graduate theory
> Teach core undergraduate theory and ear training, upper-level undergraduate theory, and graduate theory courses
> Engage in significant and sustained research, scholarship, and creative activity, as well as effective service

Salary Range: Commensurate
