Institution: Cleveland Institute of Music

Position: Music Theory (two positions)

General Information:

The Cleveland Institute of Music, a private, independent conservatory, announces two full-time faculty positions in music theory beginning Fall 2008. An introduction to the school, faculty, and programs can be found at http://www.cim.edu.

Qualifications:

Position #1. Senior-level position requiring a PhD in Music Theory and an established record of excellence in college-level teaching.

Position #2. Entry-level position with PhD in Music Theory and experience in college-level teaching strongly preferred.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Both positions: Teaching responsibilities ranging from undergraduate skills courses to graduate seminars. Additional duties may include serving on CIM faculty and DMA-examination committees, also other tasks as assigned. Salary based on experience and qualifications. CIM does not employ a traditional rank and tenure system.

Other Information:

As the successful candidates for both positions will teach in the intensive skills-related undergraduate curriculum, those invited for interviews should be prepared to demonstrate excellence in keyboard harmony, sight singing, and aural skills.
