Position: Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track)

General Information:

The Department of Music invites applications for a tenure-track position in music theory/ composition at the Assistant Professor level; ideal start date is August 2008.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications or equivalent combination of education & experience. Doctorate in music theory or composition (ABD considered), piano skills, and teaching experience at the college level. Commitment to diversity and inclusion required.

Desirable Qualifications
A strong commitment to integrating technology into the theory curriculum, and the ability to teach a broad range of music courses in a Bachelor of Arts context are desirable.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Teach all levels of undergraduate music theory (including written theory, ear-training, sight-singing, and keyboard harmony), as well as composition and orchestration/ arranging; advise students, and work with faculty to shape a growing undergraduate B.A. music program in a liberal arts environment.

Faculty at the University of Vermont are expected to develop and maintain a strong level of nationally-recognized, peer-reviewed scholarship/ artistic achievement, to teach effectively, and to contribute to the department, college, and university through appropriate service.
