Position: Assistant Professor of Musicology

General Information:

Full-time, tenure-track to begin in Fall Semester 2009.

Qualifications:

The Ph.D. in Musicology is required and must be in hand by August 2009. The successful candidate will be a scholar in music history who demonstrates the potential to be an intellectual leader in the field and whose scholarly interests complement those of our existing faculty. Areas of expertise of particular interest to the search committee include: music of the last half-century, 19th and 20th Century music, musical thought in intellectual history and a range of interdisciplinary interests. A vigorous program in musicological research resulting in national and international publications is a requirement for continuation and tenure.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

This position will require a record of teaching experience and excellence. The successful candidate will teach courses in musicology as part of the graduate and undergraduate sequences, including: Coordinating the undergraduate and graduate core history curriculum; special topics courses and graduate seminars in music history appropriate to the candidate’s areas of expertise; Undergraduate music history.

Participate in School of Music, College, and University committees, faculty governance and other related areas of service.


Salary Range: negotiable
