Position: Assistant Professor Music Theory

General Information:

Full-time, tenure track, academic year appointment, starting August 18, 2010

Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Earned doctorate in music theory by appointment date, documented creative/scholarly activity in area(s) of expertise, documented ability to teach music theory in higher education, documented experience using current technologies, expertise in tonal or post-tonal music

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Additional areas of interest may include; cognition/perception, counterpoint, gender studies, history of theory, linguistic theories, narrative/dramatic theories, philosophy of music and aesthetics, and/or post-modern theories


Job Description/Responsibilities:

Teach undergraduate and graduate music theory courses, conduct research/creative activity in area(s) of expertise, advise undergraduate and graduate students, supervise teaching assistants and graduate research, serve on graduate committees, direct MM theses and Ph.D. dissertations, other duties as applicable


Salary Range: Commensurate with experience
