Position: Lecturer

General Information:

Full-Time Lecturer, Aural Skills. Non-tenure track. Initial appointment for one year with possibility of renewal. Starting date: September 1, 2011

Qualifications:

Masters degree in music required. Doctorate or ABD in music theory or related area preferred. A record of excellence in college or university teaching, fluency with movable-do solmization, and excellent error-detection skills required. Experience teaching college-level aural skills classes.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Core responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate courses in aural skills and supervising aural skills teaching assistants. Additional teaching assignments will include: bibliography course for graduate students, general education courses and/or other assignments based on the needs of the department. Maintain regional and national visibility as a scholar as part of professional development. Applicant must be willing and available to address responsibilities during regular work week, as needed. Advise undergraduate and graduate students, serve on committees and perform other university and professional service, as appropriate.

Salary Range: Commensurate with Lecturer rank. Contingent on funding.
