Position: Artist in Residence

General Information:

The Music Department of Colby College invites applications for an Artist in Residence for the spring semester of the 2010-2011 academic year, starting February 1, 2011.



Qualifications:

Though applications are welcomed from persons of any suitable area of specialization, candidates who are accomplished performers and teachers in jazz or a non-Western musical genre are particularly encouraged to apply.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to offer two public programs during the residency (formal campus concerts or lecture recitals, or a combination of the two), offer private or group lessons in his/her performance specialty to a small number of students, and teach one general survey course for non-majors that covers the basic history, theory, and practice of his/her performance tradition.


Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Candidates should send a resume that outlines their academic and performance history and any relevant teaching experience, examples of recent concert programs, copies of recorded or videotaped performances, three letters of recommendation, a statement of teaching philosophy and a detailed description of courses and concerts that the candidate might offer.
