Position: Lecturer in Music Theory

General Information:

Full-time, non-tenure stream

Qualifications:

Candidates will have received the PhD or DMA degree and demonstrated evidence of scholarly promise and excellence in teaching; interest in working with colleagues in the department and in related disciplines.




Job Description/Responsibilities:

Teach undergraduate courses and graduate seminars in music theory and analysis, 3 courses per semester; conduct research and publish; participate actively in the profession; share in departmental responsibilities.

The successful candidate will work closely with the composition/theory faculty. We are particularly interested in candidates whose interests complement those of current faculty, and who can work across sub-disciplines within the department and with colleagues elsewhere in the University.

The Department of Music offers the B.A. degree within a liberal arts school and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in musicology, ethnomusicology, jazz studies, and composition and theory. The graduate program provides students with instruction in the histories, methodologies, theoretical frameworks and analytical techniques of the sub-disciplines, and encourages interaction across sub-disciplines.
