Position: Assistant Professor of Music Theory/Composition

General Information:

Assistant Professor of Music Theory/Composition, beginning Fall 2014; full-time tenure-track position. Responsibilities will include shaping and teaching the entire range of the undergraduate theory and aural skills curriculum (the two-year theory sequence, plus upper-level Theory seminars), teaching Composition in individual and/or group lessons, guiding undergraduate theses and directed studies, as well as advising students in the Theory and Composition options of the music major. Additional teaching opportunities, including courses in the general curriculum and Honors program, are possible, depending upon needs of the department and the College, as well as the candidate’s qualifications and interests.

Qualifications:

A completed doctorate in Music Theory or Composition is required. The candidate should have substantial teaching experience in music theory, aural skills and composition at the college level, a scholarly profile in Music Theory (including conference presentations and publications in scholarly journals) or commensurate accomplishment in Composition (including commissions and performances), and potential for playing a significant role in departmental operations and curriculum development.

Salary Range: The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
