Institution: Wayne State College

Position: Instructor/Assistant Professor of Music

Qualifications:

The School of Arts and Humanities at Wayne State College seeks a full-time, tenure-track Instructor/Assistant Professor to begin August, 2014. To be hired at the instructor level, applicants must have a Master's Degree in Music. To be hired at the assistant professor level, applicants must have a Master's degree in Music followed by thirty (30) semester hours of study applicable towards an advanced degree; three years of experience at the college level.

The successful candidate’s years of teaching experience will be reviewed to determine rank at time of hire. A terminal degree, either possessed or earned during employment, will be necessary to be eligible for tenure. All applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

The candidate must exhibit strong communication skills and the ability to teach and develop applicable courses. The candidate must also have a demonstrated commitment to teaching, diversity, and to the role of public/college service. Familiarity with on-line instruction is a plus.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Responsibilities of the successful candidate will include but are not limited to: Undergraduate Music Theory and Ear Training sequence.

Form and Analysis, Counterpoint, and Instrumentation courses
Combination of other coursework according to the strengths and interests of the candidate
