Job Description/Responsibilities:

The University of Arizona School of Music seeks a music theorist to provide quality instruction to a diverse student body and to advance the School’s music theory programs through research, recruitment, and curricular development. The successful candidate will provide evidence of effective theory instruction at the collegiate level and demonstrate potential for a sustained record of creative scholarly activity in the field. Responsibilities will include both graduate and undergraduate instruction, supervision of graduate theses and dissertations, coordination of teaching assistants, and service at the School and/or College level. Candidates must have a completed Ph.D. by the start of the appointment (August 2015). The area of specialization is open.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in music theory
• Maintain a record of creative scholarly activity
• Assist with the graduate theory program, including thesis/dissertation advisement and seminar-level instruction
• Participate in curricular development for the theory program
• Help recruit students to the graduate theory program
• Service at the School and/or College level
