Position Summary:
The Department of Music of Northeastern University seeks a qualified candidate for appointment as Professor and Chair of the Department of Music. Located in the recently formed College of Arts, Media and Design, a college of six academic departments within a top 50 research institution, the Music Department currently offers three concentrations: Music Industry, Music Composition and Technology, and Music History and Analysis.

The ideal candidate will have a record of success in the following areas: leadership of a diverse faculty; developing, maintaining, and enhancing undergraduate and graduate curricula; implementation and oversight of departmental budget, personnel, and program policies and goals; encouraging and supporting faculty in pursuit of research and funding opportunities; recruiting, mentoring, and retention of faculty, staff, and students; and teaching in the area of expertise as appropriate. We seek a Chair who will strongly advocate for the Department within the University and with external agencies.

The Department of Music has three distinct advantages. One, the department has an internationally renowned music industry program, with faculty conducting courses of study in a strong diversity of practices. Two, we are located within a major private global research university and a leader in worldwide experiential learning, urban engagement and interdisciplinary research. Qualifications:
Candidates must have a doctorate or terminal degree in music or a related field by the start date. The successful candidate will have a proven record of significant artistic and/or scholarly achievement and professional activity to warrant appointment to the rank of full Professor with tenure.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
