Job Description/Responsibilities:

Assistant Professor of Music, Theory and Composition

The Department of Music at the College of William and Mary seeks applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level in composition and theory. The department seeks a dynamic composer/sound-artist with a unique profile and auspicious professional record to compliment the strengths of our faculty. The ideal candidate will bring energy and guidance to the composition program, teach both traditional and innovative music theory courses, and contribute unique courses to the College’s liberal arts curriculum. Candidates with additional expertise in computer music, world music traditions, performance, and/or critical/cultural theory as well as significant teaching experience are especially sought. The candidate is expected to establish and maintain a creative program that inspires a highly motivated undergraduate student body. Teaching expectation is two courses per semester. Required qualifications: Applicants must hold a terminal degree in their field (Ph.D., D.M.A., or M.F.A) or possess equivalent professional experience in composition at the time of appointment (August 10, 2016).
