Job Description/Responsibilities:

The Lamont School of Music is seeking to fill a full-time, tenure-track position in Music Theory. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in music theory and courses for non-music majors, as well as maintaining an active research and creative agenda. Area of specialty is open, but will complement or deepen the research directions already represented by Lamont faculty. A commitment to teaching applied skills, especially in the undergraduate theory and aural skills classrooms, is essential. The committee welcomes candidates who show strong skill in traditional areas of theory balanced with creative approaches towards research questions, including possible collaboration with scholars and artists outside the field of music theory.

Essential Functions
Teach undergraduate and graduate theory courses, as well as possible courses for non-majors.

Other Functions
The successful candidate will show strong skill in traditional areas of theory balanced with creative approaches towards research questions, including possible collaboration with scholars and artists outside the field of music theory.
Nationally recognized publications, possibly supplemented with creative work, will be considered for tenure and promotion.
Serve on School of Music committees, University committees, and departmental duties as assigned.
