Position: Assistant Professor - Music Theory and Ethnomusicology

PhD in Music Theory or Ethnomusicology, or equivalent degree at time of appointment; active research profile; demonstrated excellence in college-level teaching.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

This position is a shared position between the areas of Music Theory and Ethnomusicology, within the Division of Music History, Theory and Ethnomusicology. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in World Music Analysis, Research in Asian Music, and interdisciplinary methodologies between Music Theory, Anthropology, and Ethnomusicology.
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in music theory and ethnomusicology (Analytical Techniques, Asian Music, World Music Analysis), including surveys and doctoral seminars; additional instructional assignments are possible, based on the candidate's background and experience; participate on thesis committees for the PhD, DMA, and Master's programs; participate on committees at the level of the division, college and university.
