Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

- Master’s degree in music or equivalent professional experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

- A completed doctorate in music or equivalent professional experience is preferred.

- Two years of university teaching or equivalent professional experience is preferred.

- A composer/theorist with abilities in concert music, computer music, music for film, games, and other media is sought.

- Familiarity with and ability to use and teach MAX/MSP/Jitter, ProTools, Digital Performer, and other equivalent software are essential.

- Additionally, the candidate must bring to the position a vision for the development of a program in composition for media.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

The School of Music at the University of Northern Colorado seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Music Theory/Media Composition to begin in August 2016. The successful candidate will serve undergraduate and graduate students as a progressive and creative educator, with an emphasis in music theory instruction and media composition. The ideal candidate will teach in the undergraduate music theory and aural skills sequence as well as in the composition studio. The candidate is expected to be focused on students and their development, while creating and maintaining a national and international presence as a composer and media collaborator. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate and work to create interdisciplinary connections within the College of Performing and Visual Arts.
