Position: Associate Professor

A tenured position of Associate Professor is available at the Department of Musicology, University of Oslo. The position is open from 1 January 2017.

Qualifications:


Requirements
• PhD or equivalent academic qualifications in music history, musicology, or similar
• Specialization in the field of music history, broadly conceived
• Pedagogical skills and qualifications in leadership and administration
• Potential for project acquisition
• Personal suitability and motivation for the position


The following qualifications will count in the assessment of the applicants:

• Academic qualifications and academic production, with emphasis on works published within the last 5 years. A capacity for original and innovative work will be prioritized above quantitative productivity
• A track record of international peer-reviewed publications
• Experience with research projects
• Potential to contribute to the long-term development of the academic and research environment at the Department
• Pedagogical qualifications and a capacity to actively engage students
• Interest, ability and experience in management and administration
• Collaborative skills and willingness to initiate joint projects
• Experience with collaboration across established academic environments and ability to forge international networks
• Skills within communication, popular dissemination and public outreach


Job Description/Responsibilities:

The Department seeks to appoint an Associate Professor specializing in the field of music history, broadly conceived. We emphasize a critical approach to musicology and cover a wide range of research areas.

The recipient of this post will be expected to contribute to and complement the Department's diverse research environment, initiate and conduct research at a high international standard, teach and supervise broadly at all levels, and fulfil administrative duties.

Salary Range: NOK 510 100 - 591 400 per year
