Position: Visiting Assistant Professor

General Information:

Visiting Assistant Professor in Music Theory/Composition, beginning September 2007. The position may be renewed for up to three years.  It is anticipated that a tenure-track line will become available.

Qualifications:

Qualifications include an earned doctorate in music theory with background in music composition or related fields and a record of or potential for scholarly publication in music theory.  Regular performances in composition as well as proven leadership and administrative skills are preferred.

All research orientations will be considered. Current interests in the department include computational approaches to analysis and composition, music cognition, post-tonal theory, film music, and multimedia.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will assist in the overall administration of the music theory program, review and revise curricula, provide advisement for students, participate in faculty meetings, committees and provide service.
