Position: Assistant Professor

General Information:

This is a full-time tenure-track Music Theory position at the Assistant Professor rank beginning with the Fall 2017 semester.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED:
- Doctoral degree in Music with concentration in theory, composition or music technology.
ABD candidates will be considered. If ABD, candidates will be required to complete the
doctorate by August 2017.
- Extensive background in the pedagogy of music theory.
- Experience as a teacher of music theory and musicianship at the undergraduate level.
- Experience in research and/or creative activity.
- Evidence of publications and/or performances of original compositions.
- Ability to work with a diverse student population.
- Sufficient level of facility at the keyboard to freely incorporate its use in teaching theory and
musicianship.
- Up-to-date knowledge of and facility with music technology resources for theory and
musicianship pedagogy.

PREFERRED:
- Ability to coordinate undergraduate theory and musicianship program.
- Experience as teacher of music theory at the graduate level.
- Evidence of ability to direct research for graduate theses.
- Evidence of potential for continued development as a teacher-scholar.
- Evidence of ability to teach a full range of music theory courses at both undergraduate and
graduate level.
- Evidence of ability to teach general education, research methods.
- Evidence of ability to collaborate successfully in a team environment.
- Evidence of ability to provide community outreach.
- Evidence of ability and willingness to serve on committees within the School of Music as well
as at the college and university levels.
- Evidence of the ability to provide student advising.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

- Teach and coordinate a full range of music theory courses at the undergraduate and
graduate level.
- Potential for continued development in a related field of specialization and teach related
courses as assigned.
- Provide student advising, community outreach, service to the School of Music and university,
and maintain an active program of scholarly and creative activities.
- Secondary assignments may include music technology or applied instruction as appropriate
to the candidate\'s abilities and the School of Music\'s needs.

Salary Range: Salary is dependent upon qualifications and professional experience.
