Position: Lecturer (80%) in theory and musicianship (aural skills)

General Information:

The School of Music at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign seeks applicants for a one-year 80% time lecturer position in theory and musicianship (aural skills). The anticipated start date for this position is 16 August 2017.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications:
> Completed doctorate in composition or theory at the time of application.

> Classroom teaching experience in theory and musicianship, with a preference for teaching at various levels, including graduate students.

> Keyboard proficiency for the theory and musicianship classroom.

Desired qualifications:
> Facility with movable-do and la-based minor solfege.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Teaching will include courses in graduate theory review (both tonal and twentieth century) and musicianship (including the supervision of teaching assistants).
