Position: Music Assistant Professor, Full-Time, Non-Tenure Track

New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development invites applications for a non- tenure track Music Assistant Professor position in Music Theory to begin in September 2018. The appointed faculty member will be part of the Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions. Qualifications:

Doctoral degree in music theory or related field, potential for service to the Department, School, and University, as well as a demonstrated commitment to excellence in scholarship and teaching. Experience teaching both music theory and aural skills preferred.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

The candidate must demonstrate effective classroom teaching in music theory and ear training. Teaching responsibilities may include core music theory and ear training courses, as well as graduate-level seminars on topics related to the faculty member\\\'s research expertise. The ideal candidate will have teaching expertise complementary to those of existing faculty, and also possess strong administrative and interpersonal skills, which will enable them to effectively contribute to ongoing curriculum supervision and development.

Responsibilities: Teach and advise undergraduate, masters, and doctoral students; participate in curriculum supervision and development, mentor masters and doctoral students’ research projects, participate in faculty meetings, serve on committees, and provide other service to the University.
