Institution: Cleveland Institute of Music

Position: Full-time Faculty (two positions)

General Information:

The Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM), a private, independent conservatory, announces two full-time faculty openings in music theory, beginning in Fall 2018. CIM is dedicated to the education of classical musicians, known for its superior orchestral, chamber music, composition, piano, voice, and opera programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. CIM does not employ a traditional rank and tenure system.

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Music Theory and successful experience in college-level teaching highly preferred. Candidates with expertise in post-tonal theory, and theory and aural skills pedagogy preferred.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Teaching responsibilities will involve undergraduate and graduate courses. Additional duties may include serving on CIM faculty and DMA examination committees, and other tasks as assigned.

A video recording of teaching may be requested. The successful candidate will teach in an intensive skills-related undergraduate curriculum, so candidates should be prepared to demonstrate excellence in keyboard harmony, sight-singing, and aural skills.
