Position: Assistant Professor of Music Theory

General Information:

The Department of Music of the Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University invites applications for a professional or tenure-track faculty position in music theory at the level of Assistant Professor.

Starting Date: The appointment carries a full-time, ten-month contract to commence September 1, 2018.


Qualifications:

Ph.D. in music theory, proven success in teaching college-level music theory courses, and the ability to advise research at the graduate level. The successful candidate will have expertise in a wide array of musical repertoires, and demonstrate potential for national or international recognition as a scholar. We seek a dynamic teacher who is engaging in the classroom and has innovative ideas about theory and aural-skills curricula. Preference will be given to candidates who show a strong commitment to effective teaching and publication, and the promise of scholarly achievement.

Salary Range: Commensurate With Experience
