Position: Assistant Professor of Music Theory

General Information:

The Department of Music and Theatre at the University at Albany, SUNY invites applications for a tenure-track position in Music Theory at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin September 1, 2018.

Qualifications:

> Ph.D. from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization by the time of appointment

> Candidates must address in their application their ability to work with and instruct a culturally diverse population.

> Applicants are expected to demonstrate a commitment to research and an ability to teach a diverse group of undergraduates.

> Experience with instructional technology and a secondary area of specialization are encouraged.

> Research specialty is open.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the core music major theory curriculum, including tonal harmony, aural skills, and formal analysis. Additional courses may include general education topics for non-majors and upper-level electives corresponding to the candidate's interests and expertise.
