Position: Assistant Professor of Music

General Information:

The Department of Music at Hamilton College invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in Composition and Music Technology beginning July 1, 2019.

Qualifications:

Candidates with ABD will be considered, although candidates with a D.M.A. or Ph.D. are preferred. A completed doctorate (D.M.A. or Ph.D.) is required by the start of employment, and the strongest candidates will have evidence of college teaching experience and evidence of sustained professional accomplishments as creative artists.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

We seek candidates to teach courses in composition, music technology, and music theory at the introductory and intermediate levels. Further, we seek candidates who can demonstrate their experience in teaching or working with diverse student populations. The teaching load for this position is four courses during the first year and five courses thereafter. The successful applicant will also be expected to participate in the Digital Arts Program, including co-teaching a digital arts workshop in the new, state-of-the-art facilities recently opened on campus.

The Music Department, consisting of six full-time faculty members and twenty-six lecturers in music performance, has a strong tradition of excellence in teaching and research.
