Position: Music Theory/Aural Skills Term Faculty

General Information:

he Department of Music at St. Olaf College seeks applicants for a full-time, term appointment beginning August 15, 2019, with rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a one-year appointment with potential for subsequent appointments.

Qualifications:

Doctorate in music theory preferred, although ABD will be considered. The successful candidate will be a pedagogue and scholar of outstanding ability who will contribute proactively to the artistic and intellectual life of St. Olaf College. In particular, the successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to pedagogy and to situating music within a liberal arts education. The candidate will show a commitment to the mission of both the department and the college. Keyboard skills sufficient to support instruction are desirable.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility will be to teach written theory and aural skills to music majors in both professional and liberal arts degree programs. In addition to classroom instruction, responsibilities will include serving on department committees.
