Position: Post-Doc in Immersive Audio

General Information:

The School of Music at the Ohio State University and the College of Arts and Sciences, invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in the area of Immersive Audio.

We seek a creative and imaginative emerging artist and/or scholar who works in the sonic arts, and who has experience working in an interdisciplinary context. The ideal candidate will have a portfolio of creative work and/or publications and a strong background in computer audio programming. The candidate may be a sound artist with computer programming skills or a computer scientist with a background in sonic arts creation/publication.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
PhD (or terminal degree) in relevant field of study, obtained by August 2019. A strong research agenda and demonstrated excellence in and commitment to interdisciplinary teaching and research are required.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

The Postdoctoral Researcher designs and conducts research projects in Immersive Audio or related field under the direction of faculty supervisor; may or may not work independently and/or with interdisciplinary groups; writes papers and/or creative works and presents findings at conferences and workshops; teaches one course each semester; mentors undergraduate and graduate students interested in issues of the sonic arts and the use of sound in various media environments; position available for one year starting August 2019 with the possibility of extension based on satisfactory performance and availability of funds.

The successful candidate will be affiliated with the School of Music and the Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design (ACCAD), and will be a resource for the College of the Arts and Sciences as a whole.

Salary Range: $50,004
