Position: Lecturer of Music Theory/Music History

Lecturer. Non-tenure track.

EFFECTIVE DATE: August 15, 2019

Qualifications:

Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the field of music from a regionally accredited institution or university required; Doctorate preferred. Ability to teach in the academic music areas of Music Theory, Ear-Training, and Music History. College-level teaching experience preferred. Other qualifications may be considered based upon the needs of the department and the strengths of the candidate.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Teach courses according to the needs of the department in the areas of music history and/or music theory and ear training. Additional duties may be required based upon the experience and expertise of the candidate.

Salary Range: Salary commensurate with rank, qualifications, and experience.

Texas A&M University-Kingsville is a multi-cultural, predominantly Hispanic-serving, state-assisted institution with an enrollment of more than 8,200 students. The Department of Music, an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music, currently enrolls about 280 undergraduate and 15 graduate music majors, with 23 full-time and 16 part-time faculty members. The Department will be moving into a brand new, 90,000 sq ft music facility in the spring of 2020, featuring four dedicated rehearsal halls with recording capability, a concert hall, recital hall, and designed as the showcase building for the entrance to the campus. The Department offers the following degrees: Bachelor of Music in Performance, Bachelor of Music with Teacher Certification, Master of Music in Music Education, Master of Music in Performance, and Master of Music in Conducting.
