Position: Assistant Professor - Music Theory

General Information:

Southeastern Oklahoma State University invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position. This position will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Music Theory, Aural Skills, and teach other music courses as assigned based upon the needs of the department.

The start date is August 1, 2020.

Qualifications:

Applicants are required to have a PhD in Music Theory or Doctorate of Music Arts in Performance/Pedagogy with a Music Theory Concentration. ABD applicants with completion of dissertation by August 2020 will be considered. The successful candidate should have a minimum of 1-3 years of college/university teaching experience (graduate teaching assistant experience may count towards this requirement). Preference will be given to candidates who have the ability to teach applied lessons, direct performing ensembles, and be prepared to invest in the specific goals and mission unique to the Department of Music and Southeastern Oklahoma State University, a regional institution with a student population from varying socio-economic and education backgrounds.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities and duties of this position include: Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Music Theory and Aural Skills. This position also requires attendance at faculty meetings, service to departmental/university committees and active involvement in the recruitment of students. Some nights and weekends may be required for classes and/or events sponsored by the department and the university. Other duties as assigned by the Chair of the Department of Music. Position and responsibilities may require multiple campus assignments as well as varied time and delivery methods.

Salary Range: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
