Position: Visiting Instructor of Music Theory

General Information:

Full-Time, Temporary

Qualifications:

Minimum:
Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in music theory/composition, required at time of appointment, teaching experience at the post-secondary level in music theory.

Preferred:
Strong preference will be given to candidates who have experience teaching/advising/mentoring undergraduate and graduate students and who can provide evidence of experience/interest in designing and structuring a new undergraduate core musicianship sequence.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

The School of Music nurtures a supportive community of faculty interested in interdisciplinary partnerships, global engagement, and critical thinking. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in written and aural music theory as well as courses relevant to their experience and expertise as related to needs of the School of Music. The successful candidate will also be expected to make significant contributions to the development of a new undergraduate core musicianship sequence for all undergraduate students, which they will then help to administer and teach.

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience
