Position: Lecturer (one-year)

General Information:

Full-time, 1-year position at the rank of Lecturer (2 positions available) beginning Fall 2007

Qualifications:

Doctorate or ABD degree in music theory or composition; evidence of strong teaching skills; experience in teaching at the university level, strong aural training and keyboard skills preferred.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Teach courses in freshman music theory, aural training and/or functional keyboard for music majors. Additional courses may include counterpoint and/or music analysis depending on candidate’s area of strength.

Salary Range: Negotiable, with benefits

Stetson University, founded in 1883, is an independent, private university located in DeLand, Florida, between Daytona Beach and Orlando. A total undergraduate student population of 2,100 includes approximately 200 music majors taught by 43 music faculty. The School of Music, College of Arts and Sciences, and School of Business Administration are located on the historic DeLand campus, and the College of Law is housed in St. Petersburg.

The School of Music maintains an exclusively undergraduate program known for its excellence, depth, and long-standing tradition. Students may pursue BM, BME, and BA degrees, with majors in performance, music education, theory and composition, and music technology, as well as the BMOF degree combining a music major with an emphasis in another academic field. The School holds full membership in the National Association of Schools of Music.
